Years ago I put up free Christmas glass ornaments maybe 24 in boxes left behind by my ex. I got more emails than I thought. I left them outside my apartment door and only left directions to one of the first responses.

Recently I have found out that quite a few people want metal drums for free in Indianapolis.

I inspected a screen printing business once and asked them how they disposed of their drums. “Oh some homeless guy comes by once a week or so and takes them away.” So, I guess you don’t have a waste  manifest on hand then?

I fortunately live on a street with enough traffic that i can put out anything i want to get rid of, and its typically gone within an hour. A few examples below

Anything metal (old rusted out grill, busted pressure washer, broken camping chairs)

Old beatup ikea dressers/armoire

Literally almost anything

Old cabinets that barely worked from my garage (had someone offer me money to hold them, i declined as i wanted them gone)

Ive also listed 2 cars for sale and sold them in under a week

You’re talking about the drums the ink comes in? If so, yikes.

I’m talking about empty drums from solvent used to get mastic off the floor. I even cut the tops off some as to get as much out as possible.

One of the guards had a grand idea of making a double wide barbecue pit. But I didn’t get her a second one because it was my last day and I couldn’t just leave a  metal drum at a government facility.

I’ve had many excellent interactions with good folks through Craigslist and that is always my expectation. You can generally judge by how they write, whether they’re worth the time of day or not. Very glad for you and yours, though.

Still, it’s a good program by and large. I can generally post something usable or useful on Free Stuff and have it gone the same day.

Ink, cleaner, solvents, you name it. But if you otherwise have to pay to dispose of them it makes sense to let someone take them for free. Not sure if home less guy is scrapping them or if they use them to keep fires contained.

Friday I looked at an aircraft hangar and their maintenance guy “has one of those burner things at his house so we just let him take whatever he wants.” I’m just going to interpret that to mean he has a furnace that will burn used oil...

They freaked out a little after telling me that but at least it’s more verifiable than some random homeless person. In the long run, as long as no one is burying stuff  on the property I can minimize the issues!

You know what? The week before I met him, I went on an utterly terrible date. It was awful. Don’t let it stop you. There’s a lot of goobers out there, it takes time to avoid them all.

When I put out the ad, I made it a point to be open to everything . A date? Cool! Just friends? Cool! Sex only? Cool! That was a change from my last few approaches and it worked.

My problem is they always turn out to be smokers. This latest one has me extra polarized though because we had something incredibly uncanny in common and it would be a shame to lose that bond that I'd literally never find in someone else.

That sucks, man.

I’d have taken a smoker over the numbskull I went on a date with. He just had no personality and would not talk about himself at all. I got tired of having  to carry the conversation and cut it short.

Nah, don’t say that. I brought up literally every topic and got nothing but one word answers. At least if you had been there , we probably would have started talking about cars and still be sitting at that restaurant talking about them.
